Each student is required to submit an individual 1,500 word (+/- 10%)1 written assignment that critical reflection in response to the following brief: Drawing on your experience of developing a strategic marketing plan (weeks 4-8) and using relevant strategy theory, discuss the extent to which strategy can be viewed as a process. The assignment must be submitted via Moodle by Wednesday 19th of December 2018 at 11am. The individual assignment gives you the opportunity to critically interrogate theoretical approaches to strategy against your own experience of strategy that you engage with in weeks 4 to 8. Although you will engage in the development of a strategic marketing plan as a team, you will be individually assessed on the submitted coursework. In preparing your individual assignment, you need to connect relevant theoretical approaches learned in the lectures and your own further reading with the reallife experience of developing a strategic marketing plan. Electronic coursework submission on Moodle: ? All students must submit their assignment online to Moodle via the relevant Assignment folder before that stated deadline. ? All submissions must include the Marketing Coursework Coversheet as page 1, also available on Moodle for each module. ? The university penalties for late work apply, further details are in the Marketing Undergraduate Handbook available on each Moodle webpage. Coursework guidance and support: The module is designed to provide you with systematic coursework guidance. ? The first lecture (week 1) explains the coursework brief, the purpose and process of critical reflection in the context of marketing strategy. This will enable you to engage with relevant literature early and to inform your own further reading throughout the term. ? The activity in the first seminar (week 2) allows you to practice critical reflection in small teams and to develop theoretical expertise through your own preparation and through engaging with other presentations in your seminar group. ? The last seminar (week 10) is designed as a surgery session to provide feedforward (forward guidance) to help you develop your individual written assignment. Please note: The surgery session is designed to answer specific questions regarding your assignment that you have prepared in advance. The tutors will not read draft essays or provide (written) feedback on draft essays via e-mail. 1 The bibliography, tables/figures or any appendices do not count towards the final word-count. 7 Coursework Assessment Criteria Your coursework will be assessed against, and you will receive feedback on, the criteria detailed in the table below. These criteria (on the left of Table 1 below) are those typically used to evaluate written coursework in the Department of Marketing. Feedforward (on the right of Table 1) provides guidance to help you translate these criterial into what is needed for this particular piece of coursework. You can also use the general grade descriptors to help you critically evaluate your own work. The grade given to your work is a summary of the overall standard of the piece of work across all criteria.
