Drawing upon the relevant course materials, use a sociological approach to address the following task:
“Cities have long been a major setting, force, and reason for much of human
activities and affairs. In our contemporary lives, cities and their urbanism
continue to play an influential role in mediating our social interactions, relations, and experiences. Consider what you think would be the three most significant topics of urban sociological interest, and engage in an analytical discussion of the urban through its status as the political, economic and/or cultural heart of our contemporary societies.”

In your essay, you must clearly identify the three topics of urban sociological interest at the start, and frame your sociological discussion around them. In each topic of discussion, you must apply at least one urban sociological theory covered in the course. In doing so, you must show how and why these topics matter in the way we understand what the urban and cities mean to our societies and social lives, beyond simply being an environment we live in.
