This assessment requires you to submit a portfolio of tasks. The portfolio assesses skills and knowledge required to ensure that information technology services meet current and future internal operational enterprise requirements. Part 1 – Evaluate current strategic plan and propose changes Part 2 – Evaluate effect of changes Part 3 – Plan implementation of changes Provide all your answers in a word document and save it as ICTICT517_AT2_PE_<Your Name> and upload it to connect drop box along with the Action plan
Materials to be supplied: Assessors to provide: Uptown IT client brief Computer with Internet access Project scheduling software such as MS Project or Project Libre.
Work, Health and Safety: When working with or on computers, ensure that following all WHS guidelines and standards when working with computers. If using physical machines, ensure that you wear closed-in shoes when moving them around and working with them. Details of location – TAFE will provide simulated work environment in the classroom all practical activities should be completed in the classroom with teacher/tutor assistance; however, it is possible to complete these tasks on a home virtual network using a freeware/shareware product such as Oracle Virtual Box/VMWare. Time restrictions – this is a portfolio assessment designed to take place over 10 weeks. The student is expected to attend in class for 6 hours per week (this includes theory sessions) and should be able to commit up to 3 hours per week in their own time. Level of assistance permitted – teachers and tutors should be available in class, and accessible by email for students working from home. Staff cannot directly show students answers but guide them to where to go to complete tasks individually. Students with disability will receiver reasonable adjustments. If you are unable to attend assessment you must notify your teacher before the assessment and supply a doctor’s certificate and approval from the team manager for extension. Reasonable adjustments will be made for students as and when appropriate, after consultation with the Disability and Counselling team. Extra time may be given for Language literacy and numeracy (LLN) or extenuating circumstances – you must see your teacher prior to assessment regarding this.
Assessment Criteria: To achieve a satisfactory result, your assessor will be looking for your ability to demonstrate the following key skills/tasks/knowledge to an acceptable industry standard: Analyse strategic direction, policies and proceesures of an organisation Analyse, compare and contrast current and desired conditions of an organisation. Analyse, compare and contrast current and future ICT systems Evalusate the impact of proposed changes to organisations ICT systems Design an action plan to implement proposed changes of the organisation. |

Specifications of assessment –There are 6 major activities that all must be completed correctly to achieve a satisfactory result for this assessment. WHS requirements – all workplace health and safety legislation and policy should apply to the practical activities Interactions – teamwork skills are essential in the IT industry therefore you should work in teams to consult and collaborate on the practical activities. However, each student is to complete the tasks below individually and will be required to show their work (unless indicated). Contingencies – reasonable adjustments can be made for students who require variations to assessment conditions.

You work for Uptown IT as a junior system analyst, Uptown IT provide various IT services in greater Brisbane. As a junior system analyst, you are required to read the client brief from Caroline’s Classroom Robots, analyse their current situation and propose a desired ICT system considering their business goals and resource availabilities.
You have been met with the client previously, and asked a range of questions. You will require a further meeting to ensure your understanding of your client’s new IT requirements, including:
current strategic planning
objectives and direction
organisational policies and
current system hardware and software
Part 1: Evaluate current strategic plan and propose changes
The project requires you to analyse and evaluate the strategic planning to determine the potential business gaps, improvements and opportunities. Your results will be provided in the form of a report.
Analyse the strategic planning requirements in accordance with information previously requested. Create a list of (minimum 5) questions for the sections that have not fully requested and/or understood from your initial meeting, including policies and proceedures that you consider require further clarification to be correctly interpreted. These questions will be answered by the client during a further meeting.
Attend a second client meeting (with your teacher) . Make sure that you are prepared for the meeting. Meeting preparation includes:
Having read and analysed the previous information gleamed from the client.
Having created a list of questions to guide the conversation, including questions related to policies, procedures and practices and may be relevant for this project.
Discuss improvement opportunities and possible proposed changes
Create gap analysis evaluating and comparing current state and desired state and determine ICT gap. Desired state of the ICT system must align with your client’s policies and procedures. Include proposed operating systems, hardware and security improvements.
Write an email to authorised personal of your client, documenting:
Gaps and proposed changes (gap analysis from 1.3).
Improvement opportunities from 1.2.
Suggest 3 current and emerging systems and product trends and directions that will be beneficial for business.
Part 2: Evaluate effect of changes
Considering the desired state in gap analysis in part 1, create an evaluation table to analyse the impact of the proposed changes including:
2.1 Evaluate difficulty level of implementing proposed changes.
2.2 Prioritise proposed changes, refine opportunities and assist in scheduling implementation.
2.3 Identify strategic objective of organisation for each proposed change.
