Quality Improvement (QI, sometimes called continuous quality improvement [CQI]) in public health is defined as the use of a continuous and systematic improvement process to achieve measurable improvements in the efficiency, effectiveness, performance, outcomes, and other indicators of quality in services or processes to improve the health of the community (Public Health Foundation, 2013).

Guiding principles of Quality Improvement include (Brassard & Ritter, 2007):

1) Develop a strong focus on customers;

2) Continually improve all processes;

3) Involve the employees;

4) Mobilize program data and knowledge of the team to improve decision making.
