The patient now becomes hypercapnic (too much carbon dioxide) and acidotic. If the core temperature stays constant, but the peripheral temperature drops, cooling and later freezing of the distal parts, fingers and toe take place. Later gangrene will develop as a result of anoxia, vaso-constriction and freezing, whereas everything in your body basically falls down.
