Assignment 1 relates to the of ,the KSB India Pvt Limted ,assigned to your group and the competition in the industry. The medium-term analysis is to be carried out for the most recent three financial years i.e. 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20. You must also carry out an analysis using the financial statements of 2020-21 and 2021-22 to identify the areas impacted during COVID-19 and the subsequent changes in 2021-22. In case you use any source other than the annual reports (e.g. databases such as moneycontrol, CMIE, etc.), you will be given zero marks for the assignment. In case you use metrics and/or formulae that are different from what has been covered in the syllabus, you will get zero marks for the assignment.
You are required to:
- Compute the ratios for the assigned company as covered in the course.
- Analyze the information provided by the ratios for the assigned company. Interpret your findings in terms of the key drivers of the metrics.
- Identify at least 4 key listed competitors in the industry for both companies and calculate industry averages for the ratios. You are required to justify the choice of competitors in terms of the factors discussed in the course.
- Analyze the trends in bargaining power with customers for the company and the industry during the period of analysis.
- Analyze the relative standing of the assigned company vis-à-vis the industry on each of the five dimensions, namely, profitability, efficiency, working capital management, liquidity, and funding structure.
- Summarize the overall analysis in terms of the potential problems facing the company and the areas of positive change.
