In order to add footnotes to your text (in Microsoft Word),
you should proceed as follows:
1. You need to use the FOOTNOTE command [normally under “References” in
Microsoft Word] in order to create your footnotes (at the bottom of each page).
2. You should put place your “cursor” (the blinking vertical line) at the end of
the sentence or word where you want to insert the footnote and then click
“Insert Footnote.”
3. The footnote will appear at the bottom of your page. To add “text” (that is,
citations [required], annotations [encouraged]) to your (created) footnote,
simply place the “blinking cursor” to the right of the (created) footnote.
4. New footnotes automatically will be numbered correctly.
5. You must use the footnote command EACH TIME you add a new footnote.
