Part A – Development of the Research Question

The research question for the research is

“What is the effect of online education on the learning of the students?”

Justification of research topic

Online education delivery has increased at an immense rate with the advent of COVID-19. All users from small kids to adults have gone for online education during COVID-19. The trend is still continuing. Access to education has increased among learners with the advent of online education but whether online education is able to accommodate the needs of individual learners is not clear. The effect of online education on the learning levels of potential learners is required to be explored. This research will determine how online education has put an impact on the learning level of students.

Feedback on post 1

Thanks, Ujjwal for your feedback on my research topic and the research question. I will be using the mixed research technique which is a combination of the qualitative research method as well as the qualitative research method in order to perform the research. I will be performing the analysis of the data of the performance of the students with the advent of online education in order to find the impact of online education on their learning levels. I will be reviewing the research articles of the previous authors as well who have done research in this field in order to find answers to my research question. As far as your second question is concerned, my research is not restricted to any region or country. I will be exploring the impact of online education on the learning of the whole world instead of a single region or country.

Feedback for post 2

Thanks for feedback. I will be exploring both the negative as well as the positive impact, Ujjwal. With regard to your second question, I will not be covering the impact of the smart phone addiction on the cervical repositioning error seating neck posture and hand discomfort. My research will be exploring the impact of the online education on the learning of learners. The online education can be accessed from any device that is Smart phone, laptop, desktop or another such device so, I will be considering online education as a whole instead of some particular device. I will not be exploring the impact of the use of Smart phone on the cervical and postures of the person. I will definitely be reviewing your provided article.

Part B – Reflection on research question development

“What is the effect of online education on the learning of the students?”

Reporting:

A sequential process was followed for the development of the research question. I came across many topics for research and then, found the topic in which I was interested in. First of all, I had selected the topic in which I was interested. I had come across many online education platforms. When I searched on the internet that what is the effect of online education on learning then, I found that the impact is not clear yet.

Relating

After, COVID-19, online education platforms are increasing day by day but little has been known about the impact of online education on learning. I performed some preliminary research on the topic and I found that this area requires more exploration. So, I started my self questioning about the topic and tried to frame the initial research question on my topic.

Reasoning and reconstructing

I posted the initial research question on the portal and then, refined my research question based on the feedback of my peers. The questions of my peers helped me to gain more clarity about my topic. One of my peers asked whether I will be including the impact of the smart phone addiction on the cervical repositioning error seating neck posture and hand discomfort. Such feedback from peers helped me to understand the scope of my research in a proper manner and the things that are to be included in the research and the things that are not to be included in the research. I performed the evaluation of my research question based on some aspects such as clarity, focus, and complexity. In this way, I was able to get my final research question. The effect of online education on the learning levels of potential learners is required to be explored. The research will be focusing both on the negative as well as the positive impact.

Part C – Interpreting Information through Annotated Bibliography

Kohli, Hermeet & Wampole, Donna & Kohli, Amarpreet. (2021). Impact of online education on student learning during the pandemic.. 2. 1-11. 10.46627/sile.

In the selected article, kohli et al, 2021 has shown how the learning is being affected through online education during COVID 19. The author has found major challenges that were being encountered during the online education. (3) The author has used the quantitative research methodology. Graduate and post graduate students are taken into account by the author. The aim of the research of the author is to study the impact of the remote learning practices on the learning of the students. (4) The scope of the research is limited to the assessment of the impact of the online education on the learning and the various difficulties that are faced by students in gaining learning while online education is used as the method. (5) The research is useful as it will help in addressing the challenges that are being faced by students while using the online platforms for learning. Lack of motivation, non engagement are some of the major issues. (6) The main limitation of the selected article is that is it is taking into account only the graduate and post graduate students but not the primary and secondary level students. This research is taking into account only 90 students so the results of the research may not be reliable. (7) More extensive research is required on the topic to get the more reliable results. The author has found lack of motivation, disengagement and other such major challenges in online education. (8) The research article is instrumental in the selected research topic. The research article helps in finding the positive and negative impact of the online education on the learning of students.

Part E – Reflection on Research Techniques and associated factors

Workshop 1

Workshop 1 was based on exploration of the topic. I had learned about the questions that are to be explored before the selection of the topic. The definition of the ideal topic was understood by me in this workshop. The most crucial thing that I learned in this workshop was the framing of the research question. I learned what points are to be kept in mind while framing the research question. I learned how to transition from the research topic to the research question. The words that make that research question more accurate were known by me in this workshop. The research question is not just a yes or no question. I was not aware of this before this workshop. The research question has more than single sentence answer. Some sort of measurable output is there in the research question. The research question must be justifiable and must provide some significant findings on research. The research question must contain some knowns and unknowns. I learned how to frame the research question in a precise manner. I learned how to select topics from a wide range of topic. The narrowing down the research was learned by me through this workshop. I used the skills learned from this workshop in PART A of this assignment. The technique of creating the research question was practiced by me through this workshop. This workshop helped me to improve my research skills.

Workshop 2

Workshop 2 helped me to learn about academic integrity. The issues that can lead to academic integrity were learned by me in this workshop. I learned about the issue of the plagiarism in this workshop. I was able to know what things can lead to academic integrity and what things can help in avoiding the issue of academic integrity. The things that are to be followed by me in order to maintain academic integrity were learned by me through this workshop. The behaviors that are included in academic misconduct were also learned by me through this workshop. The misinterpretation of academic misconduct is academic misconduct. Breaching of he academic integrity in an intentional manner or the unintentional manner can lead to academic misconduct. The things that are included in the academic misconduct were known by me through this workshop. This information will help me to avoid academic integrity issues in the future. I learned how the issue of plagiarism can be faced by me and how I can avoid this issue. I learned that it is important to cite the work of other researchers that is being referred to during research in order to avoid the issue of plagiarism. The concept of the cheating and collusion was also known by me in this workshop. The collusion aspect was not known by me but this workshop provided me information about collusion as well. The types of the plagiarism were also learned by me through this workshop. The plagiarism can be intentional or unintentional. I had understood intentional and unintentional plagiarism through the examples provided in the workshop. The concept of referencing was also learned by me. I learned about writing conclusions. The right way of writing conclusion and the wrong way of writing a conclusion was learned by me.

Workshop 3

The third workshop was about the philosophy of science. The science has the combination of shared body of knowledge as well as a method of investigation. The definition of philosophy was learned by me through this workshop. The qualification and purpose of the science was also learned by me through this workshop. I learned about critical thinking and the components that are included in critical thinking. Falsifiability, honesty, sufficiency, logic, comprehensiveness and repeatability components were understood by me through this workshop. The ability to deduce that something is not true comes under the concept of falsifiability. There should be some experiment or evidence in order to falsify a claim otherwise the claim is considered to be meaning less. I had learned that premises are important in order to explain the agreement. The validation of argument concept was learned by me in this workshop. The evidence of the honest way must be examined for the reliable critical thinking. The hypothesis must be supported by a sufficient amount of the data. The result should be supported by the evidence. The concept of pseudoscience was also understood by me in this workshop. The things that are included in the red flags were known by me through this workshop. I was able to understand the qualitative and the quantitative observations. The concept of bias which is important in every research was learned by me in this workshop. I learned about the hypothesis and the inferences. I was able to differentiate between scepticism and empiricism after learning from this workshop.
