Sepsis is a serious life-threatening condition that can cause mortality and morbidity in any individual across any age. Sepsis is the extreme response of the body towards any infection (Rello et al., 2017)Sepsis may lead to septic shock, which can be characterized by a potential drop in blood pressure.

Sepsis can cause damage to the kidneys, lungs, .and liver, which ultimately causes death. Ireland suffers from almost 15,000 cases of sepsis each year, which results in almost 3000 deaths ( Royal College of Surgeons 2022)according to (WHO, 2020)It has been found that sepsis caused deaths in one in five people worldwide, and even those who survive will most likely die within a year or be left with a life-changing disability.

These alarming numbers of deaths and serious outcomes require appropriate interventions as early as possible to decrease the mortality rate. Education is vital and to not underestimate the dangers of infection leading to sepsis
