Learning Outcomes
The following learning outcomes have been covered in this assessment:
LO1. Demonstrate an in-depth the conceptual and methodological knowledge of analytical
methods and techniques for business analytics
LO2. Expertly identify and resolve practically relevant business analytics questions and issues
LO3. Conduct research on a collection of business cases and perform statistical analysis as also
interpret these outcomes to recommend appropriate business directions.
Objective(s)
This assessment item relates to the unit learning outcomes as in the unit descriptor. Objective of
this case study to assess the ability of students to understand large data sets and apply their
knowledge in analytics to come up with useful insights. This assessment is designed to improve
student presentation skills and to give students experience in researching a topic and writing a
report relevant to the Unit of Study subject matter.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Find a data set from an open data website
Example:

https://www.kaggle.com/datasets
The data source should be large enough (at least 10 columns and 250 rows).
2. Discuss your data set with the lecturer and get approval.
3. Present your insights including some basic analytics and at least five different visualisations.
4. This is a group assignment, 2-3 members in one group. Send your group bembers to your
lecturer by the end of week 3.
5. You need to talk to your lecturer and schedule a time to present insights, 5-10 minutes. Each
member of groups needs to participate in the presentation to get a mark for this assignment.
Presentations will be scheduled from weeks 5-10.
6. Your slides should be submitted by the due date, even your presentation is scheduled after the
due date. All members name should be on the submission file. If you are not going to present in

class due to time limit, you need to upload your presentation in the moodle, not link, by the end
of week 7.
Submission Guidelines
All submissions are to be submitted through the moodle. You need to upload your presentation
slides in the moodle. For those groups who cannot present in class, they need to upload
presentation video file in the moodle. It is your responsibility to upload a quality and standard
format file in the moodle. The link for video will not be accepted and will not be marked.
Submissions must be made by the due date and time (which will be in the session detailed above)
and determined by your Unit coordinator. Submissions made after the due date and time will be
penalized at the rate of 10% per day (including weekend days).
