Step 1-1 Sketch a basic P&ID for a bioreactor with the following main equipment components (your P&ID sketch can be hand-drawn or done using a basic software drawing package): • Bioreactor Vessel, with Heating and Cooling Jacket • Bioreactor Agitator • Bioreactor Bottom Outlet Pump
Include the following process and utility connections on your P&ID 1. Aeration supply to the bioreactor 2. Aeration vent/exhaust from the bioreactor with pressure control 3. CIP manifold supply to the bioreactor 4. Inoculum supply to the bioreactor 5. Media supply to the bioreactor 6. Clean steam supply to the bioreactor for SIP 7. Contaminated condensate (SIP) return 8. Process water supply and return distribution to and from the bioreactor 9. Over pressurization vent line to a catch tank via a rupture disc 10. Antifoam addition 11. Acid addition to the bioreactor for pH control 12. Base addition to the bioreactor for pH control 13. Bioreactor bottom outlet via pump to harvest process-manifold 14. Thermal-exchange fluid supply and return to and from the bioreactor’s heating and cooling jacket (from a temperature controls skid)
