This assignment builds directly on and further develops the work undertaken for Assessment Task 1.

This assessment task involves the preparation of a critical essay that investigates a contemporary issue in education and will require you to:

• provide an abstract
• outline the background/problem statement, key concepts, your investigation question and significance of the investigation;
• develop a coherent, consistent and persuasive argument in relation to your investigation question;
• support your argument with evidence from relevant academic literature;
• survey and engage critically with relevant academic literature;
• outline implications for policy, practice and/or research;
• articulate and present the above elements in a systematic and professional manner, in accordance with academic writing and referencing styles.

Criteria

Discussion of the background/problem statement, core concepts, investigation question and significance of the investigation

Position on the issue and a coherent line of reasoning in the argument

The use of evidence from academic and other sources

Critical analysis of the literature and evidence

Identification of implications for education research, policy and/or practice

Presentation of work (including title page, abstract, introduction/conclusion, APA referencing, page numbering, spelling/grammar/ sentence structure/punctuation, word limit)
