John is a 75-year-old gentleman who has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. He has a poor prognosis and his life expectancy is set at 6 weeks. He has a wife and 2 daughters, which he loves dearly. He resides with his wife and both his daughters live close by. He has one grandchild on the way, which is due in 3 months, however following his recent diagnosis, it is unlikely that he will get to meet them. He lives in a two-story house, the master bedroom and the main bathroom are located on the 1st floor accessed by stairs. There is a toilet downstairs but no bathing or showering facilities.
