This assignment will encourage students to gain an understanding of the principles of sustainable tourism and development of the tourism industry.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TASK – WHAT ARE YOU BEING ASKED TO DO?

The submission of a written essay that discusses the overtourism and ethical tourism environment of a sustainable destination country of your choice, using a wide variety of research materials (2,000 words).

Essay (2,000 words) – 50%

You are required to produce an essay on “Understanding the over tourism and ethical tourism environment at the tourism destination country of your choice” through the use of a variety of research materials.

The essay must include:

1. Introduction (200 words):

• Outline the aims and objectives of this essay.
• Provide an overview of your selected destination.

2. Paragraph 1 (400 words): Overtourism

• What is overtourism?
• Why is overtourism happening?
• The reasons behind overtourism
• How to avoid overtourism?

3. Paragraph 2 (400 words): Overtourism impact in application

• Analyse the impact of overtourism on your selected destination.
• Provide a solution to overtourism in your selected destination.

4. Paragraph 3 (400 words): Ethical tourism

• What is ethical tourism?
• Why is ethical tourism important?
• What are the major ethical issues in tourism?
• Provide an example of ethical tourism with its justification.

5. Paragraph 4 (400 words): Ethical tourism impact in application

• Analyse the impact of ethical tourism on your selected destination.
• Provide a way to improve ethical tourism in your selected destination and justify your reasoning.

6. Conclusion (200 words) :

• Summarise the topic of the essay and add a conclusion.
• Include your recommendations on over tourism and ethical tourism.
