You are the XYZco strategic account manager. XYZco is a manufacturing outsourcing company that produces apparel for branding companies around the world. Your account is JJco, which is a midsize branded apparel company that currently manufactures, distributes and sells sports apparel and dressy casual clothing. JJco operates across North America. Lululemon is a competitor to JJco.

This is your 3rd year of working with JJco. You are responsible for the outsourced manufacturing of 10 different lines and are increasingly well positioned. Your objective in the upcoming year it to grow by more than 50% by securing at least 5 new lines.

Scenario: You have just learned that the COO of JJco has received a proposal from a major enterprise software firm that provides JJco with all of their internal software (ERP and CRM). This firm has developed a new software and robotic platform that can be integrated into an existing production line. The benefits of this software and robotic platform are that it can enable companies to keep manufacturing in house and under their control while materially reducing the cost of production. This firm is stating that if JJco switches to their new platform it can drive down their costs of production by 75%. They are encouraging JJco to stop outsourcing and move back 100% to manufacturing themselves. The COO has asked to meet with you. You do not know why?
