Purpose This assessment will enable the student to advance their critical thinking and reflection for evidence-based perioperative nursing practice when nursing people with complex, changing andlor chronic health issues. The student will contribute to the development of policies, audits and/or standards and increase their clinical understanding and practice on which to assess and manage clinical situations.

Locate articles from peer-reviewed journals related to one chronic health management issue. Provide a summary of your search strategy. Using your articles identify and discuss the main issues related to assessment and managemer of the medical/surgical patient. Critically analyse the literature and discuss best practice related to assessment and managemf of the chronic health issue you have chosen.
