Who is this Module for? This module is a core module for foundation year students of BSc
(Hons) Business and Tourism Management.

Module aims:
1. Provide students with the basic skills and knowledge to be able to plan, execute, analyse
findings, and draw conclusions on a project related to business management.
2. Enable students to manage their time effectively in conduction a project and, as a
consequence, enhance their academic skills.
3. Enable students to communicate through written and visual presentation skills.
Brief module description/summary:
This Foundation Year Project module is designed to provide you with basic and essential
skills involved in planning, undertaking, and visually presenting a piece of independent
research on a topic relevant to Tourism Sector. You will be given an opportunity to apply
knowledge gathered in previous modules of the foundation year through researching the
professions and businesses within Tourism Industry. You will make use of information
gathered from a wide range of sources using the basic research skills and methods.
Module learning outcomes:
1. Demonstrate an ability to undertake a project involving plan, execute, analyse findings,
and draw conclusions for an investigation with specified aims and objectives identified.
2. Use information collected from a range of sources and use of appropriate methods to
address the stated aims and objectives of the investigation.
3. Develop and demonstrate academic writing and communication skills to present the project
in written and visual formats.
