This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to manage the performance of staff that are direct reports.
The unit applies to individuals who manage people. It covers work allocation and the methods to review performance, reward excellence and
provide feedback. The unit makes the link between performance management and performance development and reinforces both functions
as a key requirement for effective managers.

Assessment Task 1: This is a written assessment that will test student’s knowledge. This assessment may be completed o
duration of the training days. As the students learn, practice and review knowledge and skills, students
keep Assessment Task 1 in front of them and answer the questions as the information becomes clear
beginning of each review session students will be given a few minutes to familiarise themselves with t
questions. Students will be given extra time at the end of the day to complete this assessment or to cl
facts with the Trainer/Assessor
Assessment Task 2: This part of the project requires you to develop a team performance plan and communicate the team
performance plan to relevant stakeholders. Speci¦cally, you are required to:
Identify team purpose, roles, responsibilities in work teams according to organisation and task obje
Develop performance plans with expected outcomes, key performance indicators (KPIs) and goals

Support team members in meeting expected performance outcomes
Establish open communication processes with relevant stakeholders
Assessment Task 3: This part of the project requires you to develop documents that will help support team accountability.
Speci¦cally, you are required to:
Develop strategies for facilitating team member input into planning, decision making and operation
aspects of team tasks
Develop or modify policies and procedures for promoting team member accountability for persona
and team tasks
Develop processes for identifying and addressing issues, concerns and problems identi¦ed by team
members
Assessment Task 4: This part of the project requires you to participate in team activities and provide feedback to team mem

Provide feedback to team members on team effort and contributions
Encourage team member to participate in and to take responsibility for team activities
Support the team in identifying and resolving work performance problems
Promote work team collaboration through individual behaviour

Student must satisfactorily complete each assessment tasks to be Competent (C) in the unit. Student
unsatisfactory completion of any of the assignment tasks will be deemed Not Yet Competent (NYC).
