Why is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective important to early childhood education in Australia?
Ø Children know about their knowledge systems, traditions, ceremonies, lore, culture, and history and children develop empathy and respect toward the
indigenous culture.
Ø It helps to establish meaningful reciprocal interactions between early childhood institutions and the community, educators expand their knowledge of
kinship systems and cultural connections in their local communities which helps to teach children about acceptance of other viewpoints and respect for
each other.
Ø To Support their learning, growth, and well-being through fair and inclusive environments and experiences.
Ø Incorporating an indigenous perspective in the curriculum that supports children’s participation and inclusion that enhances learning outcomes for all
children.
Ø Including indigenous perspectives in early childhood education is very crucial for promoting inclusion, and creating cultural awareness, respect, and
equity within the workplace and helps to make a harmonious society in Australia.
