  1. Demonstrate an understanding that the role of the Safety Practitioner is required to plan the preparation and completion of regular reviews of an organization’s health and safety management system and advise on and provide for suitable management practices and policy amendments.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to think critically, independently, and creatively as required by a Safety practitioner in identifying relevant hazards and risks in the workplace and demonstrating an understanding of the implementation of suitable actions to minimize risks.
  3. Recognize how to identify, interpret and describe the main requirements of legislation and codes of practice.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding that the role of the Safety Practitioner is required to plan, prepare develop, and deliver effective communication and training programs on occupational health and safety.
  5. Recognize how human factors affect Health and Safety in Work in understanding the nature and extent of occupational illness and accidents impacting absenteeism.
  6. Demonstrate an understanding that a Safety Practitioner must employ a range of transferable skills to include a systematic approach to decision-making, auditing, and problem-solving in investigating accidents, preparing reports, and making cost-effective proposals to prevent a recurrence.
  7. Display an understanding that a knowledge of general concepts of employment law and how this relates to health and safety management is required should the student wish to pursue a career as a Safety Practitioner
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of the ability required to maintain records and communicate effectively, using both oral and written methods of information pertaining to Health & Safety to management.
