Case Study You recently represented a husband in a divorce action. The adion culminated in a final settlement agreement between the spouses which .1Is for the payment of periodical payments (maintenance) from the husband to the wife. These payments are only sufficient to meet the modest needs of the wife and the couple’s two children. There is no other provision made for the wife who lives with the children in rented accommodation. Shortly after the settlement was finalised you discover, quite by chance, that the husband has concealed £600.000 in assets, has lied about his finances, and produced false information. You telephone the husband, your client, to challenge him. He replies: ‘Yes, but that was money I made working bloody hard on a property business with a mate. There was no way I was going to let my wife steal it horn me and the kids will get everything I’ve got one day.’ Explore the professional conduct and ethical issues this information raises for you as the husband’s legal representative, explaining what action you will take and why?
