Some questions that you may choose to address in your essay are:
• What social justice issue(s) apply to the chosen project? • Do the injustices still exist? • Who are the people who suffer most from the injustice: who are the beneficiaries of this injustice? • What are the root causes of the injustice? • Are the causes of the injustice deliberate (such as repression of minority groups) or accidental (such as unintended consequences of poorly considered foreign aid)? • In the past, have the local communities, and all members of those communities, been involved in the decisions regarding aid, and the type of aid, provided for their communities? • Where foreign aid was effective in improving the quality of life in a community, what were the main factors that contributed to that effective adoption of foreign aid? • Where foreign aid was ineffective, why was it ineffective? • What factors are important in ensuring that aid will be effective, and be readily adopted by a community? • Will the EWB Challenge address some of the injustices? Why, or why not?
