You have been given two texts (provided in the assessment folder).
Step 1
o Divide each text into clauses and number each clause.
o Present the numbered clauses in a table. You will use these numbers in your work
for this and future tasks.
Step 2
1. List the (ranking) nominal groups in the texts1 and present the lists on a page
before your analysis of each text’s nominal groups. Label each list by text number.
2. Use the table below or one like it to present an analysis of the nominal groups in
the texts:
a. Identify the Thing in each ranking nominal group in each text.
b. Use function labels to analyse constituents of the nominal groups you’ve
identified.
• Copy and paste the table for each nominal group analysis.
• Present the analysis for each text’s nominal groups as a separate
section in one document. Label each set of nominal groups by text
number.
3. Write a brief commentary answering the question below for each text. The
commentary for each text should follow the table of nominal groups.
