Leadership Applied
Critical Thinking Analysis – Case Study (written paper) Guidance
Students will submit a well-written, critical thinking analysis paper. The
expectation of the submission is that it be well-written and representative of
upper-level undergraduate work. Proper grammar, syntax, and formatting are the
expected norm, so do not overlook this aspect of the assignment.
Key Assignment Requirements:
• Length:
6 – 7 (six – seven) double-spaced pages, 12-point font – The sixto-seven-page requirement is for the Body of the Paper only (as instructed in
the “Outline” below);
Double-spacing, 1” margins around each page is required. Appropriate
indentions are expected.
Note – although highly appreciated for proper organizational and formatting
structure, any
Title, Abstract, or Works Cited/Reference pages included with your
submission do not count as part of the six-to-seven-page “Body of the Paper”
requirement. In other words, you should expect to have approximately 2 – 2.5
written pages for each section in the Outline below [I, II, & III].
“Body of Paper” Outline: In writing your Critical Thinking Analysis paper, you are
required
to include these specific section HEADERS, as well as follow the
guidance under each section description
, as instructed below, when writing your
paper.
I. Leadership Philosophy & Style – In this section, you should:
a. First, clearly state the specific leadership philosophy(ies) and style(s),
as presented in
Chapter 3 of your course textbook, that you would
implement to lead your group to successfully survive the EMP
disaster, as presented in the Case Study scenario.
b. Next, fully analyze and discuss why you believe your specific
leadership philosophy and style is relevant to the success of your
group’s survival.
c. Your discussion should include an analysis of the impact your
philosophy(ies) and style(s) will have on each specific member of your
group, based on the given information and descriptions in the Case
Study Scenario.
II. Leadership Skills – In this section, you should:
a. Fully discuss, within the context of the Case Study scenario
information, the specific skills you expect to apply in the
implementation of your plan to lead your group through the Case
Study scenario. (refer to
Chapter 5, Figure 5.1, in your course
textbook).

b. The analysis in this section of your submission should be focused on
the specific skills you’ll apply to oversee each of the following areas of
concern:
i. Structure & Security of the group (i.e., “Rule of Law”)
ii. Communications processes and procedures
iii. Shelter / Sustenance
iv. Medical issues
v. Economic systems
III. Ethical Leadership – In this section, you should:
a. First, clearly state the bases of power (from those presented in Table
12.2 and discussed in pages 317-318
of your course textbook) you
believe you have in this Case Study scenario and then;
b. Then, fully discuss, with specific examples and details, how you
believe your leadership power will influence your success as an
ethical
leader
in the outcome of your group to “survive the EMP disaster.”
