Understanding the LO’s- Break it up

• (1) Explain different approaches — (2) within cognitive psychology
• (1) An approach to a task, problem, or situation is the way you deal with it, or think about it. More than one approach needs to be mentioned. • (2) This must be within cognitive psychology, considering true cognitive psychology i.e. the information processing ideas and experimental design-studying mental processes using scientific methods.
• So we should demonstrate different ways of dealing with, or thinking about, issues within cognitive psychology, focusing on experimental design. • This does not mean comparing cognitive psychology with behaviourism, or neuroscience, or social psychology etc. This may form part of an overarching discussion, but it would not satisfy this particular learning outcome. • It means discussing the various ways that cognitive psychology ideas have been tested experimentally- contrastina them aaainst each other (which we look at next)i
