This assessment has two parts, relating directly to the Clinical Reasoning Cycle.
Clinical reasoning in nursing guides clinical decision making and is essential to this subject and foundational to your studies.
Part One – State the name of and describe the purpose of each stage of the Clinical Reasoning Cycle (CRC). Describe how each of these individual stages helps a Registered Nurse to plan and undertake patient centred care.
Your work must be supported by at least four (4) credible sources* from relevant literature.
Part Two – Using the Case Study and the Case Study SAGO chart*, gain the information needed to answer the below questions:
“Consider the Patient Situation” – Identify obvious cues from the case study and describe the patient’s situation. Describe how the specific information from this stage guides a Registered Nurse to plan and undertake patient centred care.
“Collect cues/information” – Identify cues from the case study using the descriptive words from the CRC of review, gather and recall. Describe how the specific information from this stage guides a Registered Nurse in making the correct clinical decisions for a patient.
“Process information” – Identify cues and abnormal assessment findings from the case study using the descriptive words from the CRC. Describe how the specific information from this stage guides a Registered Nurse in making the correct clinical decisions for a patient.
How to write this assessment?
An introduction and conclusion are not required. The presentation requirements for this assessment can be found below the marking rubric. The paper must otherwise adhere to all other academic writing standards. See the Academic Skills help page.
All sources must be correctly referenced in-text and in the reference list that must be in accordance with the APA 7th edition referencing style using credible, reliable, and appropriate sources. Sources should not be older than seven (7) years and should be published after January 2016.
*Credible, reliable, and appropriate sources include peer reviewed journal articles, professional manuals, government or professional body documents and textbooks. Apply the CRAP test to any publications from the internet before using them, most are best avoided. Also, avoid references to any publication with no date (N. D.) or information sources directly from the I2 modules.
This assessment is to be word processed using a Word document (eg .doc,
.docx) not PDF or rtf files:
Leave 2 cm margins and double line space your work;
Use 12pt font, throughout the entire assessment;
Include a title page that includes the subject name and code, title of the assessment task, due date, lecturer’s name, student’s name and student’s number;
Insert student name and number in header or footer of every page of every
assessment; and
Number all pages
