Case Scenario

SSBT (Sydney School of Business and Technology) is the Registered Training Organization (RTO) which is providing the training to the students on the business course and leadership and management courses. The college is delivering Diploma of Business, Advanced Diploma of Business, Diploma of Leadership and Management and Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management. 

Currently, the College employs 15 staff members that include the CEO, Sales and Marketing Manager, Human Resources Manager, Operations Manager, Administration Manager, Office Assistant, Receptionist, Academic Manager, Student Services Officer, IT support Officer and 5 trainers and assessors.

So far, the Organization is delivering the courses face to face only and all international students are required to spend 20 hours per week on learning and assessment. 

We have been recommended to analyze the different Vocational Education Industry advancements and improve the learning practices at our organisation.

You have been working as Operations manager in the organization and had been invited in a meeting conducted by Senior Management and you have been advised to work on evaluating ways of improved learning practice, managing and monitoring the means to improve learning and analyze and advance the adoption of improved learning practice.

The following task is to be demonstrated and assessed in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Conditions must be typical of those experienced in the training and assessment environment.

For this task you are to complete the following activity to demonstrate your ability to implement improved practice in at least one (1) learning environment.

You are required to develop a learning practice review report for this activity. Include following information in your report:

Activity- Learning Practice Review Report

Explain at least five learning practices advances in Vocational Education sector.

Review existing learning practice in the organisation and advise what practices are to be improved?

Analyse interests, abilities, relationships and the contextual needs of relevant individuals, when promoting improved learning practice

Research how a range of appropriate learning theories and instructional design principles can improve learning practice

What qualifications you are considering for improved learning practices?

How would you ensure learning practice reflects the nominated qualification requirements?

Activity 2 – Assess the learning styles of learners

You are required to observe and assess learning styles of different learners. For this activity, provide following link to other 5 students in your class and record their results:

Also, observe different learning styles of the students from your class.

Receive the results from students and your observation details with you. You would document it in activity 3.

Activity 3 – Develop a brief report on managing and monitoring the means to improve learning

You are required to develop a brief report. Your report should include the following information:

Summary of results you have received from learners on their learning styles

Results of Your observation on students’ learning styles

Evaluate the role, and impact of, new technologies on learners and training techniques

Learners’ characteristics to consider when developing Learning Practice

What would you consider to plan improved learning practice based on how learners currently learn

What would you advise to plan improved learning practice based on the experience and personal interests of the learner

What steps you would use to develop improved vocational, training and educational (VET) learning practice, appropriate to learner characteristics

Activity 4 – Conduct a meeting with CEO and Academic Manager

You are required to conduct the meeting with CEO and Academic Manager (two other students) to discuss the brief report on managing and monitoring the means to improve learning. For this activity, you are to advocate for improved learning practice. You need to discuss all the topics you have developed in brief report. You would be seeking the feedback from CEO and approval to move ahead. Make sure:

Take notes on any feedback provided

Use effective communication skills

Language should be appropriate to audience

Activity 5 – You are required to identify at least three service providers who can install LMS at your organisation as per your organisation’s requirements.

This would be your initiation for improved learning Practice.

Activity 6 – Develop a set of at least 8 questionnaire and send it to at least 5 students to test whether they would be satisfied with the improved learning practice or not?

Collect the answers from other students and attach for this activity.

Activity 7: Develop learning and communication plan

You are required to mentor your colleagues to promote improved learning practice in the workplace.

You should mentor the staff on:

How to motivate all the staff members and students to use LMS

How to monitor the use of blended system

How to handle the complaints and enquiries about new system

During meeting, use effective communication skills and appropriate language.
