Assessment 1: Career Planning
Due: 24 March 2023. Unless an application for Special Consideration has been submitted and
approved, a 5% penalty (of the total possible mark) will be applied each day a written assessment is
not submitted, up until the 7th day (including weekends). After the 7th day, a grade of ‘0’ will be
awarded even if the assessment is submitted. Submission time for all written assessments is set at
11.55 pm. A 1-hour grace period is provided to students who experience a technical concern. Please
check the unit guide for more information.
Required: Students are required to write a critical reflection describing their plan(s) for their future
career, articulating how their plans follow the employment trends in the changing world, identifying
and recognizing knowledge and skills gained, and evaluating how this knowledge and skills will assist
them to achieve their career goals. Specifically, reflections need to address the following areas:
1. Assess where you are: To figure out where you’re going, you must first look at where you’ve been.
Please reflect on your attributes and achievements to date. (5 marks)
2. Articulate your goal: What does it look like? Formulating a career goal requires thinking about your
interests, skills, and education and learning about different careers and employment trends. Please
describe your ideal job and how this job follows current employment trends. (5 marks)
3. Make a plan: Review a number of LinkedIn pages and identify three “good” LinkedIn profiles that
provide information (i.e., skill, education, experience) related to your goal. Then, based on these
LinkedIn profiles, please identify the specific steps and strategies you need to take in order to achieve
your goal. (10 marks)
4. Identify three skills that you want to further develop and how they may improve your employment
outcomes. (10 marks)
5. Virtual work experience. (5 marks)
Format: The word limit is 2500 words. Your word count must be included on your cover page. Nothing
is to be excluded from the word count. If you exceed the word limit, 10% of the total marks will be
deducted as a penalty. In-text referencing is required for all sources used and a complete list of
references must be provided using APA Style – 7th Edition. More information about this referencing

Your submission must contain the following (i.e. all files must be combined into one file and in this
order):
• Cover page (You can design your own cover page)
• 1. Assess where you are
• 2. Articulate your goal
• 3. Make a plan
• 4. Identify three skills that you want to further develop and how they may improve your
employment outcomes
• 5. Completion certificate for the virtual work experience
• Reference list
The style must be as follows:
• Font – Times New Roman
• Size – 12 points
• Spacing – 1.5 lines
• Margins not less than 2.5 cm
Each page must have a footer containing the following:

• Your SID
• Page number
Submission: This assessment represents 35% of your total mark for ACCG8150 and is compulsory. The
assessment must be submitted in electronic form using Turnitin (through iLearn). Please ensure that
you submit it before the deadline in case of technical issues. A hardcopy submission is not required.
The report can be submitted either in a PDF or word format. The filename of your report must be as
follows: ACCG8150_XXXXXXXX (where the crosses represent your SID). All assignments will be
manually and electronically checked for plagiarism and it is extremely important that you are familiar
with the policy on Academic Honesty.
