I. Career assignment (15%)
The purpose of this assignment is to get students to critically think about their careers and set a plan to achieve their individual goals. It also allows students to explore potential management-based careers in the sport and recreation industry.
The assignment must include the following in one document: • What are the four most important priorities .111 your life? How would you rank them and why? HOW do you think that these priorities may affect your career choice? • Tell me what career you would choose today if salary and required schooling were not contributing factors m your decision? • What would your ideal career position be and how does that career align with your priorities? • What competencies, experience, or knowledge do you need to gain or update to be ready and competitive for your ideal career position? • Which of these competencies can be met through non-classroom activities?
Additionally, you most find and include two job postings in the sport, recreation, therapeutic recreation, fitness or leisure industries. One should be a job that you may want right out of university, and the second should be your ideal career. These can be any jobs in any location — but they should match up with your career goals and priorities. Explain why you chose these jobs.
You will be evaluated based on: writing skills, clarity, description, and depth of reflection. It should be obvious that you took some time to think through your answers and provided justifications/explanations for your thoughts. Maximum 5 pages (excluding the job descriptions, title page, and reference list if references are used).
