ASSIGNMENT SUMMARY:

Data Source: “Enhanced ESS Ireland Data CA 2023 Marketing” MS Excel File – available on Moodle. The dataset contains a selected set of 24 variables concerning variables relating to physical and mental health, activity, work and wellbeing. NB: A supplementary materials file containing the Codebook for this dataset (PDF File, Filename: “Codebook Enhanced ESS Ireland Data CA 2023 Marketing”) is also available on Moodle. It is essential that you consult this file in order to understand the dataset presented.

You work for ABC Market Research Ltd., and management are interested in the relationships between the physical health, mental health, lifestyle activities, and/or general demographics of the population and their propensity to buy particular products. You have been given a relevant dataset, see above, and are being asked to produce a report demonstrating insights on this topic.

You have been asked to consider at least8 different variables of your choice from the dataset, and to use the data to create a statistical report and supporting infographic about the relationship between any of the health/lifestyle variables and any of the product rating variables.

ASSIGNMENT FORMAT:

The assignment is in two parts:

a) A report.

b) An infographic.

REPORT FORMAT:

The report will contain the following sections, in order:

1.     Title page: With Title of report, names and student IDs of group members, and declaration of originality of the work.

2.     Introduction: A succinct introduction to the topic at hand, including a broad overview of the topic and a brief paragraph on the aims of the research.

3.     Methods: Contains the following elements – study design, data sources, and statistical procedures.

4.     Results: As part of the Results section, you must complete statistical analysis of the dataset above, using at least 8 variables in total. The results section as a whole should include the following:

a) Descriptive Statistics including measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion for at least 4 selected variables with appropriate narrative.

b) Representation of at least 2 variables in table format, featuring two variables of your choice.

c) Representation of at least 2 variables in histograms or bar charts, featuring two variables of your choice.

d) Regression analysis for a minimum of 2 relationships (i.e. 4 variables), these should include R2 and interpretation. These regressions must be accompanied by scatterplots with a least squares line.

e) NOTE: All graphs must be original productions. Students may NOT use reproductions of graphs from other sources.

f) Critically, you must include a brief narrative to explain your findings in the Results section, not just a list of results.

5.     Discussion and Recommendations: Includes brief summary of results, evaluation of results with comparison to previous research (with at least 2 academic references), discussion of possible limitations and sources of error. Suggest one other entirely new variable which might have added to the results. Use academic sources. Recommendations for ABC Ltd. based on the results.

6.     References: Harvard referencing style.

INFOGRAPHIC FORMAT:

Create an infographic to include your main findings. This infographic should convey the main findings to a non-expert/non-academic audience using a mixture of graphs and text. Commentary on the infographic should communicate and interpret the statistical findings/output in a technical and non-technical manner. See Infographic Examples on the module Moodle page.
