Assignment task
Occasion Ltd. has produced a new smartwatch called LifeTime. The company wants to create a marketing
plan to launch their lifetime product. Occasion Ltd. has allocated three months to market LifeTime. You have
been hired as a marketing consultant by LifeTime to propose a marketing project plan to launch LifeTime.
You are required:
(1) To create the marketing project proposal for LifeTime. The project proposal should include the resources
required, likely risks and mitigation, and budget needed to carry out the marketing plan.
(2) To create a PowerPoint presentation that you would present to the management to get their approval to
proceed with implementing the marketing plan.
This assignment has been designed to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your
achievement of the following module learning outcomes:
LO 1 Present and agree to a project proposal with the client/
LO 2 Use appropriate tools to collect, select and use information from a range of sources.
LO 3 Evaluate the data relevant to the proposal.
LO 4 Communicate the outcomes and recommendations.

OVERVIEW:
The management of Occasion Ltd. has decided to enter the smartwatch market. It has invested over £4
million pounds in research and development, hiring software engineers and timepiece inventors. They
know the highly competitive market they have planned to enter. Now they recognise the need for expert
marketers to help them penetrate the market. As a consultant marketeer, your role is to propose a
marketing plan that will last twelve weeks and a budget of £100,000. The project proposal should state

the specific marketing goals that you aim to achieve – such as capturing three percent of the market share
or generating revenues of £7 million pounds in the first quarter. The project proposal needs to highlight
the benefits, risk factors, and budget so that the management can consider the viability of the marketing
plan. Remember, you are a marketing consultant who has been hired to write a marketing project proposal
to convince the management to make the decision to go ahead with the marketing project.

1. Prepare an annotated PowerPoint presentation (8-10 slides maximum) to present to the management
of Occasion Ltd. The slides should detail the marketing project proposal and rationale – carry out
relevant research e.g., background information on the smartwatch market size, competitors etc,
potential customers and the likelihood of success)

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO A LIVE PRESENTATION.
Keep the slides succinct and use
bullet points where necessary to be brief. The presentation slides should be enclosed, followed by
the report in the appendix.
2. Prepare a client report that covers the following: (LO2, LO3 & LO4) [1,000 words]
a. The Project Plan (discuss the marketing plan for the LifeTime smartwatch using a GANTT chart)
(150 words).
b. Project Scope (discuss the marketing plan and launch cost, and marketing channels) (300 words)
c.
Project Risk (what potential risks could impact the launch of the new product LifeTime, e.g., cost
overruns, delays in specific tasks, marketing channels, competition from other smartwatches like
LifeTime)

The report should be written in a formal business report format, consisting of a title page, a table of
contents, the main body of the work using appropriate headings covering the above four points, and
a reference list compliant with UoS Harvard referencing.

Referencing Guide. You are required to include ONLY ONE reference list page at the end of the

How your work will be assessed
Your work will be assessed on the extent to which it demonstrates your achievement of the stated learning
outcomes for this assignment (see above) and against other key criteria, as defined in the University’s
institutional grading descriptors. If it is appropriate to the format of your assignment and your subject area,
a proportion of your marks will also depend upon your use of academic referencing conventions.
This assignment will be marked according to the grading descriptors for Level 3
Submission details
This assignment should be submitted electronically via Moodle (module tutors will discuss this process with
you during class time).
Please ensure that your work has been saved in an appropriate file format (Microsoft Word, Excel
or PowerPoint, or PDF are the most widely used; Google Docs is also accepted). Your file must
also contain at least 20 words of text, consist of fewer than 400 pages and be less than 40MB in
size.
You can submit your work as many times as you like before the submission date. If you do submit
your work more than once, your earlier submission will be replaced by the most recent version.
Once you have submitted your work, you will receive a digital receipt as proof of submission, which
will be sent to your forwarded e-mail address (provided you have set this up). Please keep this
receipt for future reference, along with the original electronic copy of your assignment

Level 3 (Foundation Year)
