EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (10 Marks)

Should be on a separate and a single individual page (One-page Max)

Must contain the following key elements

State what the report evaluates

State method of analysis used (must be succinct)

State the specific findings from your analysis (must be succinct)

State the recommended strategies outlined in the report (each recommendation should be a single statement). Use dot points preferentially.

State any limitations in your research

DO NOT provide your Executive Summary in one long single paragraph. Each of the points above should be presented as a discreet paragraph separated by a line spacing.

INTRODUCTION

Start the Introduction on a new page.

DO NOT provide background information about Mater such as when it was founded and the number of employees, etc. This information will not add value to your report. Here you need to start by providing a background on regulatory requirements in healthcare organisations, then discuss the objective of the report and offer a preview. (Max 4-5 lines)

CONSUMER CENTRED EVALUATION (20 Marks)

According to the ACSQHC framework, there are nine areas for action by people in the health system. Specifically, here you are required to evaluate what they are doing with respect to these areas. For example, Area 1.2 is “Increase health literacy”. What are they doing to increase health literacy with their consumers?

Use these areas to guide your analysis. Provide examples, where available.

You may not be able to find information on all these areas. Address all the ones that you can.

For this section it may help you to research consumer (patient) feedback and reviews to get further information to support your evaluation.

You may find additional information in relation to this area in addition to their Clinical Safety and Quality report on their website or annual report.

You must provide citation or theoretical considerations to support your statements

DRIVEN BY INFORMATION EVALUATION (15 Marks)

According to the ACSQHC framework, there are four areas for action by people in the health system. Specifically, here you are required to evaluate what they are doing with respect to these areas. For example, Area 2.4 is “Encourage and apply research that will improve safety and quality”. What research are they doing or applying that will improve safety and quality.

Use these areas to guide your analysis. Provide examples, where available.

You may find information in relation to this area in addition to their Clinical Safety and Quality report on their website or annual report.

You must provide citation or theoretical considerations to support your statements

ORGANISED FOR SAFETY EVALUATION (25 Marks)

According to the ACSQHC framework, there are eight areas for action by people in the health system. Specifically, here you are required to evaluate what they are doing with respect to these areas. For example, Area 3.6 is “Support, implement and evaluate e-health”. What have they done with respect to e-health?

You must address Area 3.5 “Ensure funding models are designed to support quality and safety”.

Use these areas to guide your analysis. Provide examples, where available.

You must provide citation or theoretical considerations to support your statements

PLEASE NOTE: You may not be able to address all the “Areas for action by people in the healthcare system”. Do the ones you think are most significant and relevant.

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCUTRE LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK

Provide a succinct discussion on how organisational structure, leadership and teamwork support safety and quality of care.

This discussion, if appropriate, can be integrated into any of the core principle evaluation above or discussed here as a separate section. This is best discussed under ORGANISED FOR SAFETY. Area 3.7

You must provide citation or theoretical considerations to support your statements

CONCLUSION

In the conclusion you are not saying anything new. All you are doing is answering the question of how well is Mater Hospital implementing the ACSQHC framework? What are you concluding from your analysis. No more than 3 to 4 lines stating the key take-aways from your analysis. Be very brief.

RECOMMENDATIONS (15 Marks)

Based on your analysis above, provide several key recommendations that might address any gaps or opportunities for improvement in the areas for action evaluated above.

Your recommendations need to be realistic and can realistically be implemented by the organisation in a reasonable timeline and budget.

The recommendations must be well justified, with the proposed benefits discussed, based on research, and supported by citations and not your opinion.

The recommendations can be in any one or more of the areas that you analysed above.

DO NOT recommend to hire more people. This is not a practical recommendation, firstly due to the shortage of staff and budget. Consider alternatives such as team work or team structure or leadership, etc.

GRAMMAR/SPELLING (5 Marks)

PROFESSIONAL REPORT WRITING (5 Marks)

IN-TEXT CITATIONS AND REFERENCES (5 marks)
