3. Choose a current health topic that relates to your major field of study. This can be any health
topic that relates to health promotion, nutrition, addiction studies, occupational safety and
health or another allied health professional context.
4. Select
ONE of the following health communication topics:
social media,
advocacy and activism,
political communication issues.
5. Using the ‘Pitch Template’, create a
persuasive media ‘pitch’ for The Conversation website to
inform their audience about your topic. You need to ensure your pitch builds urgency,
awareness, understanding or engagement. Before you begin, ensure that you have developed
your ‘brand’ as this will influence what and how you pitch your idea. You should also identify
who your target audience is and make sure your pitch is appropriate for the audience. Have a

for tips on how to pitch write a pitch.
6. Develop a 5-slide PowerPoint presentation on your personal brand and your conversation
pitch.
7. Record a 3-minute video to introduce yourself and your brand as it relates to your story idea
and present your pitch. You must be visible in your video, and your PowerPoint slides should
also be used within your presentation.
8. Submit a copy of your PowerPoint presentation and your video.
PART B
1. Peer review two other videos, focusing on the structure, branding and significance of the pitch,
and the presentation skills of the presenter. Each review should be written in a professional
voice and should be between 150-200 words. Videos will be randomly assigned to you on
Tuesday 18 April, and feedback is due Friday 24 April 2023 11.59pm.
Note: This Assessment forms the basis for Assessment 3, where you will write a full media article
for the Conversation website which will be shared on our Canvas site. Your full media article will
not be published on the Conversation website but will be shared on our Canvas site in the final
showcase for this unit. The peer reviews that you receive should assist you in preparing the full
article.
