Assignment 2 enables students to demonstrate understanding of concepts and consumer factors in mental
health. Mental illness can have a significant impact on a consumer’s quality of life. It not only impacts the
individual but can significantly impact their family and community.

Assessment task 2
Your essay will use the main character of the chosen movie as your case study and will explore the mental
illness experienced by that person and the impact it has on the individual/consumer and their family. Using
contemporary peer reviewed national and international literature to support your discussion, your paper must:
• Discuss the aetiology and pathophysiology of the mental illness experienced by the main character.
Discuss risk factors, signs and symptoms in relation to contemporary peer reviewed literature (500 words)
• Discuss the psychosocial impact of the mental illness on the individual, family, and the community.
Provide support for your discussion using contemporary peer reviewed literature. (500 words)
• Identify and discuss the role of the mental health nurse in providing the non-pharmacological interventions
in mental health. Integrate contemporary peer reviewed literature to support your discussion (500 words)
