PART A – 4x Journal Entries
1. CRITICAL DISCUSSION
Critically examining theory using relevant journal articles
Find an area of theory that intrigues you, or that resonates with you
and explore it in-depth using journal articles.
500 words
2. REFLECTION
How the selected theory works with organisational practice
Share your thoughts on this theory based on your personal
experiences and/or expectations of life in the workplace.
300 words
3. REFERENCES
Note: You can use Artificial Intelligence (AI) (eg ChatGPT) to help you write
the critical discussion and/or the reflection. This part of your assessment will
be reviewed by the teaching team, but it will not be marked.
Your assessment will be submitted to Turnitin. You do not need to worry
about any similarity score that Turnitin gives you. Once received, it will be
sent randomly to another student who will critique your work (Part B).
PART B – 4x Critiques (300 words each)
1. CRITIQUE (of Part A)
Critically examine the four journal entries assigned to you.
Read the four journal entries and find & discuss the errors within it.
This will necessitate querying the use of theory, examples and
references.
2. IMPROVEMENT (of Part A)
Suggest improvements to the journal entries you have critiqued.
Explain what you would do to improve the work you have just read..
3. REFERENCES
Note: You
MUST NOT use Artificial Intelligence (AI) or plagiarism for any
part of Part B. The final version will be submitted through Turnitin and
Similarity Scores will be evaluated.
Assessment Submission Online Via Moodle
This assessment has been set up to be checked by Turnitin, a tool which helps
you check whether you have referenced correctly. You can submit your
assessment task to Turnitin prior to the due date and Turnitin will give you an
originality report. You may then make any changes that may be required and
resubmit your final version by the due date.
Part A: Submitted online via Moodle/Turnitin by 11:30pm Sunday, Week 7.

 

Part B: Submitted online via Moodle/Turnitin by 11:30pm Sunday, Week 8.
Assessment Return Part A: Will not be returned.
Part B: will be returned to the critiquing student online via Moodle/Turnitin
by 11:30pm Sunday, Week 9.
Detailed Information At the completion of each week and each module – for weeks 3, 4, 5 & 6,
students will create a critical reflective journal. The journal will comprise four
entries (one for each module), and each entry will comprise two parts.
PART A – 4x Journal Entries
1. This part will be a critical discussion of an element of theory that
was discussed in the module. This part will be 500 words +/- 10%
(for each journal entry). This part will include at least two academic
journal articles which focus on this area of content.
2. This part will be a reflection of how this area of theory (Discussed in
Part A:1) might be used in the workplace, and it will relate to or will
be based on
your life experiences. This part will be 300 words +/-
10%.

PART B – 4x Critiques (300 words each)
Students will read each journal entry from the random (deidentified)
student. At the end of each entry, they will add two new pages. Page one
will be a critique, and page two will be an improvement (see below):
1.
Critique: Students will critique the work presented, looking for
errors, flaws, inaccuracies, etc. They will write a discussion
explaining what they have found.
2.
Improvement: Following the critique, students will explain what
can be done to the paper to improve it.
Both parts must be critical. They must engage with the espoused theory,
and they must use additional literature. At least two additional journal
articles must be used.
In summary:
students will complete four (4) journal entries; each entry is around 800
words. Then they will complete 4 journal critiques, of around 300 words.
One week’s entry will be randomly selected for comprehensive marking
by the tutor;
all will be assessed for effort.
Final mark conversion:
(Component 1) TOTAL MARK
for the assessed journal entry (According
to Rubric – See Moodle). This is randomly selected from the four entries
submitted.
(Component 2) TOTAL OF ALL JOURNAL ENTRIES all assessed for
effort
