Community Policing Presentation

The Mayor of Ideal City had a meeting with you as the Chief of the Police Service, where he outlined some serious problems that residents of the city have concerning some safety issues.

Problems:

1) A number of Criminal cases have been lost in court because of serious Charter violations.

2) There are too many young people loitering in public areas and on transit buses.

3) Citizens, especially seniors are afraid to go out at night for fear of being harassed, assaulted or robbed.

4) There is a considerable amount of drug dealing openly on-going in the downtown core on a daily basis.

5) Motor vehicle accidents are above the average rate for a city of this size.

6) It takes too much time for police officers to answer a complaint or attend at a crime scene.

7) The business owners are complaining that they only see police officers driving by & never actually see any on foot patrol in the downtown area.

8) Quite a few of the police officers look very untidy uniform wise, overweight & seem to have a negative attitude when dealing with the public.

You as Chief must formulate solutions for all eight (8) complaints from the citizens of Ideal City.

I expect you to prepare at least one Power Point for each problem with your recommendations of possible solutions.

Be ready to answer any & all questions the Mayor will have for you.

Resources such as manpower/equipment are in abundance thus alloying you the luxury of assigning officers, planning strategies and initiating programs wherever needed to solve the problems outlined by the residents of Ideal City.

Presentations to the Mayor will begin on Monday, April 03rd/23 outlining in detail the solutions your Police Service should implement to deal with each of these issues.
