Assignment Brief

As part of the formal assessment for the programme you are required to submit a Health Policy assessment. Please refer to your Student Handbook for full details of the programme assessment scheme and general information on preparing and submitting assignments.

Learning Outcomes:

After completing the module, you should be able to:

LO1: Evaluate and apply key concepts of project management to improve healthcare including health services, social services, and all interventions and policies intended to improve health.

LO2: Analyse multisectoral collaborations to deliver health projects that will have an impact on the social, economic and environmental landscape of national and transnational populations.

LO3: Identify challenges to be able to anticipate, plan for and manage risk taking in health projects.

LO4: Evaluate and analyse the key digital skills and technologies necessary to lead health projects.

Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and the exact word count of your submitted document; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in AU Harvard system(s). You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work.

You must not include your name in your submission because Arden University operates anonymous marking, which means that markers should not be aware of the identity of the student. However, please do not forget to include your STU number.

Maximum word count: Task 1: a maximum of 15 slides for the presentation. Please refer to the full word count policy which can be found in the Student Policies

Assessment Task

This assessment is worth 30% of the total marks for the module.

Task One

Context

As a global public health expert who has worked with various national and international stakeholders, you decide to create a start-up health care consulting company.

In the current global context, there is a multitude of public health and global health issues and opportunities your company could consider.

Identify a possible project that could tackle an issue or exploit an opportunity in global or public health. For example, you could consider themes such as prevention of cardiovascular disease, dementia, mental health and access to COVID-19 testing.

Find a funder that would be interested in funding this project (your potential Project Client).

Question

Reflecting on the scenario above, formulate a project plan that critically evaluates and applies key concepts of project management and discusses challenges to anticipate, plan for and manage risk taking in your project of choice.

Guidance

You are expected to use PowerPoint slides and an Excel spreadsheet to present this project to the potential Project Client. The presentation should include a maximum of 15 slides including the Title page.

The PowerPoint presentation will need to include:

A background on the potential Project Client;

A rationale on why the Project Client should fund the project;

The Project Scope Document;

A high-level estimate of the resources the project will require;

An account on how the project plan ensures the achievement of the project

goals.

Make assumptions on the resources you have available and the resources you will need to source externally.

The Excel spreadsheet will need to include the high-level project plan. The high- level project plan should not have more than 50 rows.

You may need to review online sources and material to ensure that the plan you present is feasible and realistic.

Formative Feedback

For Task 2, you have the opportunity to submit a draft outline on a PowerPoint (MS PowerPoint) document to demonstrate your planned content and writing style.

The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work and it helps you develop your skills as an independent learner.

If you are a distance learning student, you should submit your work, by email, to your tutor, no later than 2 weeks before the actual submission deadline. If you are a blended learning student, your tutor will give you a deadline for formative feedback and further details.

Formative feedback will not be given to work submitted after the above date or the date specified by your tutor – if a blended learning student.
