Case Study No 3.
Mr Jones is a 59-year-old male who has recently completed a cycle ride for charity. He presents to his GP with complaints of dysuria and foul-smelling urine, as well as frequent urination but is only able to expel a small amount of urine at a time. Furthermore, he also reports lower back pain however, has not experienced any haematuria with urination, nausea/vomiting or a fever. The GP notes down Mr Jone’s symptoms and takes a full medical history, which is presented below:
Past Medical History
- Type I diabetic Past Surgical History
- No surgical history Family History
- Mother alive at 90 years old
- Father deceased
- One sister alive and healthy
• No children Social History
- Divorced, no long term partner
- Sexually active
- Cycles and runs frequently
- Visited Belgium for work 3 months previously
