From URStoPQ VOMP 3011 P&ID-2: Antifoam Tank

Step 2-1 Sketch a basic P&ID for an antifoam tank with the following main equipment components (your P&ID sketch can be hand-drawn or done using a basic software drawing package): • Antifoam tank with heating and cooling jacket • Tank agitator (bottom mounted) • Inline sterilizing filter (on the process air inlet)
Include the following process and utility connections on your antifoam tank P&ID 1. Tank bottom outlet routed to bioreactor 2. Process water inlet 3. Process addition inlet 4. Tank process air inlet via the inline sterilizing filter (for pressure transfer of the antifoam to the bioreactor) 5. Tank vent-control exhaust line routed to a high level 6. Over pressurization tank vent line to high level via a rupture disc 7. Clean steam supply to the tank (for SIP) via the inline sterilizing filter 8. Clean steam supply to the tank bottom process outlet 9. Contaminated condensate (SIP) returns (as necessary) 10. CIP supply to the tank (via inlet spray balls) 11. Plant steam supply and condensate return from the tank’s heating and cooling jacket 12. Plant cooling tower water supply and return from the tank’s heating and cooling jacket
Step 2-2 List the primary performance requirements associated with the antifoam tank. Write a sentence or two to expand on each of your performance requirements.
