Directions
Choose a room to re-design – this can be a room in your home, an area in someone else’s home, office space, etc. Create a Design Portfolio with your selection of software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, iMovie, Prezi, Word, website, etc.). Be sure to consult the grading rubric as you complete this assignment. Use powerpoint and make it around 16 slides of content
Part I: Inspiration (35 points)
Write a brief paragraph explaining your vision for this design project and how the space will be used. Be sure to include essential details such as specific audiences who will use the area (children/pets/mobility impaired, etc.).
Display a collage of 5-10 inspirational photos or a Pinterest Board.
Use 4-5 art vignettes/illustrations to display the style inspiration for the space (Boho, Coastal, Farmhouse, Southwestern, etc.).
Include 4-5 samples/images of materials for your space (organic wood, acrylic, marble, hide, etc.)
Include a color palette for the space using a minimum of 5 colors/shades. Briefly explain why you chose this color palette.
Select 2-3 Elements of Design for your space and include images to display the elements.
Select 2-3 Principles of Design for your space and include images to display the principles.
Part II: About Your Space (25 points)
Include a description or pictures of the current space and the existing furniture items and accessories.
Include a floor plan to better understand the shape and dimensions of your space. You can use a hand-drawn or computer-generated image. Be sure to include room measurements and other essential details (windows, doors, openings, etc.).
Part III: Wishlist (15 points)
Using “Low End” and “High End,” determine a budget range for this space.
Choose 3-5 furniture pieces for the room and include the price for each (sofa, chairs, desk, tables, etc.).
Choose 3-5 decoration pieces for the room and include the price for each (mirrors, pillows, lighting, curtains, wall art, etc.).
Part IV: Design (25 points)
Create a sketch or Pinterest Board (including 2-3 images from each section above) to bring your design to life.
