Assignment 1.3: Research Report (25%) – due Week 8, Sunday 30 April 2023 8pm
Purpose: Business reports serve a variety of purposes. They are generally structured in a particular way – not just for academic purposes, but more importantly for business purposes. You have applied for a management job in either Bendigo Bank or Atlassian in 2022/23. As part of this application, you have been asked to write a report examining certain aspects of the management in the organisation to which you applied.
This report will showcase your knowledge, but also demonstrate your developing academic and business skills such as communicating in writing, presenting information to an audience of experts, using information to support your claims, and acknowledging the sources of information you have cited.
The business report provides you with an opportunity to strengthen the skills you developed through completion of A1.1 and A1.2. It is vital that you use this feedback to improve areas highlighted for further development. In addition to further developing your skills, this report requires you to consider where you might fit as a manager in your chosen organisation and reflect on what you can do to prepare for such as position.
Use the Research Report format (see p. 9 below) to guide you on the sections required in your report. Remember your answer must focus on either Bendigo Bank or Atlassian in 202/23. DO NOT CONTACT EITHER ORGANISATION.
There are three tasks in Assignment 1.3. You must complete and submit all three tasks within the body of your report.
Task 1: Explain the components of an organisation’s specific external environment. Then identify and evaluate the impact of customers on either Bendigo Bank or Atlassian in 2022/23. Begin your research by reading pp. 41-46 of the textbook*.
Task 2: Define and explain the Social Responsibility (SR) of an organisation. Analyse the approaches taken by either Bendigo Bank or Atlassian to SR in 2022/23 and evaluate how this organisation has responded to Sustainable Development Goal 13. Begin your research by reading pp. 66-72 of the textbook*.
Task 3: Imagine you are applying for a first line manager’s job at either Bendigo Bank or Atlassian in 2022/23.
A) Explain and analyse the roles you would expect for this kind of job. Begin your research by reading pp. 5-8 and 12-14 of the textbook.
B) Next, explain how your studies/experiences at Deakin College (or in a job you may have/have had) could provide you with experiences relevant to applying for a job as a first-line manager.
You must also use Deakin APA7 Referencing Style http://www.deakin.edu.au/students/study-support/referencing/APA7.
You must use only reputable academic, media, government, and business sources to inform your report. Do NOT contact the organisation directly. Do NOT use Wikipedia.
Your Assignment 1.3 Research Report needs to include:
Assignment Title page;
Executive Summary;
Table of Contents;
Introduction;
Critical analytical section (Your responses to the three tasks will make up the sections in the body of the report.)
Conclusion;
Deakin APA7 style Reference List (Appendices are not required).
See format required on p. 9 of this document. See also Deakin Report Format http://www.deakin.edu.au/students/study-support/academic-resources/report-writing
Remember to use feedback from your Assignments 1.2 and 1.3 to assist you with preparing and writing your final report submission.
SAVE your assignment frequently and save a copy of your completed assignment. Do not resave or rename the saved copy after the submission date as you may need to submit your pre-due date backup copy if your assignment is lost in the DC system.
