Introduction

The popular commercial business show, Dragons’ Den is similar to Shark Tank. However, it is a Canadian television reality show based on a crew of investors who are willing to invest in potential entrepreneurs. Similarly, the Dragons’ Den model originated in Japan but was also hosted by Canada’s television. In Canada’s Dragon Den (CDD), it is Dianne Buckner who hosts the show. It premiered on CBC Television on October 3, 2006, and has reached out to many growing business minds. Several entrepreneurs like The Mossify Mister and Unightie Ultra Light come with a lot of hope. While few get success others do not. But there are a few parameters of acquiring company finance and collaborations from the investors of CDD. Therefore, aspiring Canadian entrepreneurs pitch business to investors. However, the business of investment needs to be profitable, productive, and sustainable. The ideas of a panel given by The Mossify Mister are compact, crisp, and well-presented. As it holds sustainable ideas of venture capitalists it received investors compared to Unightie Ultra Light. Each Dragon acts as an individual investor which became a potential benefit to The Mossify Mister.

Research question:

Why is The Mossify Mister business considering a better investment proposition than the Unightie Ultra Light?

Aim:

To analyze the system of Canada’s Dragons Den who can invest in growing minds. It is important to asset the return on investment, mentor, finance, sustainability, and entrepreneurship perspective. It will allow us to identify how these entrepreneurs will be able to use their own money as they choose to grow productively. It accelerates the entrepreneur’s responsibility to persuade these perspectives and ideas to match the needed investment for long-term growth.

Understanding The Mossify Mister business

The Mossify Mister was established to help the people of Canada to unplug and unwind by appreciating the plants in the places one life (Grounded. (n.d.). To bring design and greenery together, the founder established a plant variety that offers a wealth of advantages. The idea has been developed to promote relaxation and awareness. To the CDD, he presented the effect of plants within a specific area. For example, how plant-based interior design and decoration can be proven to be beneficial for the environment and the people. In a variety of ways, plants can be used as a decoration which will promote the supply of fresh air and oxygen. This includes increasing creativity and attention, lowering stress, and cleansing the air for all the people around. To aim at adding plants to one’s environment will accelerate the potential to boost one’s health and happiness in a sustainable. The environment and the world appear to be chaotic. Today’s the synergy between plants and humans is gradually declining with the rapidity of survival (Grounded. (n.d.). People are becoming less aware of environmental protection while chasing a financial Progression. To build this natural progression in aiding us in remaining grounded as pointed out by the founder of The Mossify Mister.

Analyzing the Unightie Ultra Light business

The Unightie is a new yet popular idea that consists of a wearable liner used variably for traveling. It holds a stuffable pillowcase, and with some pockets to store items. It will assist a traveler with the comfort of living in tents and getting enough sleep. It has been made with the idea of 4-way stretch and comfort. For example, it will allow one to sleep in all of the unusual positions within a small space like a tent. It has a hoodie to the top with two front pockets and a utility pocket for stuffing biodegradable soap, torch, or phone. The hoodie will keep the traveller warm while the reversible zipper will allow you to store more items. It is not only super soft but edging. As it has a foot box to keep one upright before falling asleep.

On the other hand, if one intends to use a portable cabana function, he or she may use the reversible zipper. This will initiate a pull that will untie the Unightie over the head of the individual. Also, it can be used to undress or re-dress underneath it. However, the founder made it more distinguishable by allowing it to toss one’s sleeping bag as a “cloud of comfort.” Besides, sustainability has been kept in mind as bamboo is used for its suppleness. On the other hand, cotton is used for the loft which also provides comfort. Similarly, spandex is used for a four-way stretch that can be worn by any person of any weight. All these qualities will protect it from moisture and allow travels with a hustle-free and restful night’s sleep.

The Return-on-Investment perspective

Ergonomic risk assessment of workers in the garment industry

Be it a Green-decorating item or plant-based item or a sustainable wearable liner, it is important or investors to assess Work-related musculoskeletal problems. For example, while making a wearable liner it requires to keep in mind a major health concern in labour-intensive sectors. Even though the owner of Unightie has made several advancements in workshop practices, sustainability, and technology, it seems like the garment industry remains one of the most labor-intensive industries which requires a huge capital. Therefore, Polat & Kalayci, (2016) seeks to measure the ergonomic risk that is associated with garment industry workers in modern times. It is important to see how the working environment and physical demands of workers in a factory or a plant are fulfilled. From making wearable liners to baby towels, using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) approach will be useful. So, the investment requires ways to calculate workers’ physical workloads and how it can monitor productivity and profit in distinct procedures. The findings of the study indicate that poor ergonomic working conditions cause major physical diseases in the clothing sector.

Internal Drivers and performance consequences of small firm green business strategy

Because small businesses like Unightie have limited resources like proper financial capabilities, workforce, and technology, investors of CDD need to have future research. This will allow them to look into how these can be obtained externally using a systematic investment while bulk productivity and outsourcing. It is the responsibility of the investors to be instructive to research the many private and governmental organizations that offer environmental support and how the company can nurture them through its product. And as studied by Leonidou, et al. (2017) to investigate means of transferring a certain number of aids to small businesses like Unightie. Therefore, it is critical to replicate one’s research among small businesses across countries or the globe. A proper assessment of varying economic, and regulatory norms needs to be studied. With the growing number of sustainability and green production, the environmental behavior in terms of business experience needs to be assessed before investment. As the organization size is smaller compared to The Mossify Mister, therefore, the entrepreneurial activity will be more. With a lack of resources and capabilities, the investment to be integrated into a green business strategy compared to The Mossify Mister will be less. It is advisable as per Leonida, et al. (2017) to achieve a competitive advantage amidst the existing markets of wearable liners, it is necessary to have a superior performance using longitudinal monitoring. This will allow the entrepreneurs to examine the movement of changes in environmental behavior that may influence small-scale businesses.

The Sustainability perspective

Communicating actionable sustainability information to consumers

In modern times, while technology is a boon, and sustainability is in demand, it is important to check on the growing body of knowledge regarding sustainability. From the Mossy Mister which is dependent on building an environmentally cautious world, entrepreneurs with wearable liners or sleeping liners must advocate the same. These wearables must be recycled and reused once the product is used or at expiration. Besides, with rising consumer awareness sustainability becomes a hallmark. It is not easily translated into action but also not impossible.

It is important to examine why consumer information on sustainability concerns and solutions is of rising importance and how growing minds may find resources and funds insufficiently actionable. Turunen & Halme, (2021) offer an alternate manner of delivering product-related sustainability in modern times. From providing the right information to customers to the application of Our Shades of Green (SoG) tool is recommended. The SoG will allow businesses to assist and support consumers in their decision-making while being environmentalists as a citizen. It will nurture their basic duties as a citizen while performing like an environmentalist by giving easy yet comprehensive information. This information will include social sustainability impacts, recycling, renewable energy, and others. Therefore, it is important to include a set of critical sustainability concerns throughout the product’s life cycle.

Not simply green: Nature-based Solutions as a Concept and practical approach for sustainability studies and planning agendas in Cities

Dushkova & Haase, (2020) rightly study the notion of a nature-based solution (NBS) that has been analyzed and applied. Typically, NBS was established to operationalize business in modern sectors to build an ecosystem. This ecosystem simply does not mean settling for a green world but the services and approach to work within spatial planning policies and environmental protection. Also, the practices, completely need to incorporate the ecological dimension to solve existing socioeconomic concerns in the environment. For entrepreneurs, it is important to look beyond traditional approaches. This will allow them ‘to guard and maintain’ designing and manufacturing with multifunctional attitudes. Businesses working in an urban milieu need to be connected with urban green networks along with nature. NBSs facilitate the urban design and planning that will be ecologically sensitive which will also raise awareness in customers as responsible citizens.

Mentorship perspective

Prediction of the physiological response of humans wearing protective clothing using a thermophysiological human simulator

There are major standards and technologies for testing garment qualities that need to be adopted by entrepreneurs of Unightie. Disregarding the wearer’s physiological condition it sometimes remains insufficient for evaluating the transitory thermal properties. Therefore, businesses manufacturing liners and wearables need to assess clothing ensembles (Psikuta, et al. 2023). There are physiological factors and burdens like thermal properties and environmental conditions which lack. Entrepreneurs need to mentor their engineers and employees to adapt to the thermo-physiological human simulator that can be applied in the wearables. This will not only accelerate its performance in the market but make it distinct. Besides, using a thermal cylinder, a thermal simulator in wearable with an advanced physiological model will be successful. This will include a broad variety of environmental and personal settings. Using experiments with clothed persons subjected to hot and cold situations can assure its customers regarding its usability (Psikuta, et al. 2023). However, the testing needs to be dependent if permeable and impermeable samples of cloth. The cloth has to be breathable with the capability of moisture retention. These aspects need to be properly mentored by the employees during production and design.

Sustainable, affordable and functional: Reimagining prosthetic liners in resource-limited environments

Entrepreneurs need to mentor their employees regarding the five unilateral trans-tibial amputees that will allow travelers to stay in comfort. The gears attached to the wearable need to have unilateral trans-tibial prostheses that have to be worn as an inexpensive liner in three different socket designs of the comforter. As an investment, it will cost low-cost (USD 20) and to make it environmentally friendly it will require an additional investment of 15 USD (Miyata, et al. 2022). But the prosthesis liner can be developed and tested in trans-tibial prosthesis users which can be of huge benefits to its customers.

The Entrepreneurship perspective

Study of Influence of Atmospheric Conditions on the Thermal Properties of Sleeping Bags

For travelers, a rectangle bag liner separates them from potentially contaminated bedding in tough climatic conditions or rough land. Also, it may restrict bedbug infestations and bacterial contamination. Instead of wearable liners, it is necessary to invest in or discover rectangle bag liners. These are frequently required by travelers in many hostels, trekking, and travels. Besides, it is also growing in terms of its market being popular among inexpensive hotel guests. With growing entrepreneurs, it can be made distinguishable with ideas like additional insulation. For example, if a sleeping bag liner adds 32o to the setup while one is going out in temps lower than what the bag is rated for, it will be dysfunctional (Skrzetuska, et al 2022). While the rectangle bed liner will provide a grounding with the warmest sleep that is adaptable to weather. From Sea to Summit, travelers may frequently use it as an independent summer sleeping bag that can provide important additional degrees of warmth with just a layer of insulation to keep oneself warm.

When smart technologies enter household practices

In smart houses, with growing advancements in technology, interior, and design, entrepreneurs need to revive products based on smart ideas. For example, digital housekeeping is popular and becoming essential in the process of SHT adoption (Aagaard, 2023). There are practices related to the smart home sector that are predominantly by male entrepreneurs. Who may hold better and a creative practices such as home decoration? Females may help in developing cognitive labor. This may be useful for digital housekeeping while performing tasks like. home creativity.

Similarly, Mignon Hemsley who is a native Washingtonian is known for her groundbreaking business ideas. She is a co-founder of Grounded, which is mostly recognized for her experience in photography, designing, graphic design, gardening, creative direction, and djing (Grounded. (n.d.). Through her work, she has been promoting a green world and sustainability. In brief, she is rooted in nature in many ways/. For example, Hemsley bridges the gap between minimalism and informational content by emphasizing visually pleasant designs and visuals. This has influenced the ideas behind The Mossify Mister. Like her, many entrepreneurs are motivated every day by generating compelling visuals. For The Mossify Mister, it is allowing the building of a design language that can speak to the masses and spread environmental consciousness. Another influential entrepreneur is Danielle Doswell (Grounded. (n.d.). He is the co-founder of Grounded. He is a native of Alexandria, Virginia who is known for his multidimensional creations in the field of branding, marketing, and public relations. He has been assisting clients and enterprises (small and large) across numerous sectors. He is known for his exceeding standards of authenticity and extensive research.

Conclusion

Both entrepreneurs need to work on improving sustainable investment. It will entail investing in progress while providing equal consideration to environmental concerns and standards. While The Mossify Mister is at environmental and financial gains; Unightie needs to stress regarding Sustainable Development Investing (SDI). It is important to keep the four perspectives in mind while practicing investing money in ways that contribute to long-term development. This will gather not only investment but trust and loyalty of customers. Also, measuring progress against the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will restrict the techniques to long-term investment. Therefore, using ESG integration, CSR, impact investing, and positive screening can act as useful tactics for a sustainable investment strategy across the globe.
