Feedback from ATHE

The feedback to the learner made reference to the AC command verbs, but was limited and non-developmental.

The ATHE assignment brief requires learners to present their findings to an audience. There is no evidence of this happening.

LO1 AC 1.1 – 1.3 were marginally achieved, however there was no assessment of the ethical considerations applying to the research for AC 4.1. Instead, the learner considered ethics relating to health and safety. LO1 is met marginally as the learner has been able to select a topic for research.

LO2 The learner has demonstrated some evaluation of data collection methods and identifies some analysis tools so achieves AC 2.1 and 2.2. There is insufficient to demonstrate the learner has explained the importance of validity and reliability of the research data. AC 2.3 is not met. However, the learner has been able to demonstrate minimal understanding of how different research methods are used to achieve LO2.

LO3 The learner has not formulated a detailed plan for the research as required for AC 3.1. The learner states ‘In the process of the research, questionnaires, interviews, and observations were used to collect data.’ There is little evidence to demonstrate the learner has conducted research using these identified research methods for AC 3.2 or recorded and collated data for AC 3.3. The learner states that the research will be ‘interpreted using graphs, tables, percentage methods, and various charts will be drawn with the use of chi-square method shall be applied in the final analysis of the data collected’ The learner did use any of these apart from some percentage references. The LO is not met.

LO4 The learner outlines how the results were analysed, but does not actually demonstrate the data analysis.

LO5 The learner was required to present the research outcomes. There is limited reference to some results, but these were not sufficient to show the research outcomes.

LO6 The assessor feedback for AC 6.2 states ‘Learner obtained a practical understanding and a learning experience which will enable the improvement of future practice as the research was greatly supported by short informal interviews’ There was no evidence presented for the short informal interviews. The learner has not reviewed their own learning and development from the research as required for AC 6.2

The learner will need to resubmit LOs 3 -6 for this unit making sure that the research is carried out, analysed and documented appropriately.
