The assignment: can you simulate
the motion of the bodies in a Binary System with two planets. Here are two
YouTube videos that may help you if you know Python:
Gravity Simulator
episodes 1 and 2,
Episode
1 – Sun and Earth simulation
,
Episode 2 –
Binary Star System simulation
. I think they use Python (I don’t know
Python) and the whole code is not shown but it may point you in the right
direction.
BOP.m is just to give the parameters
to use, like the Masses of the of the Bodies and the Distances between them. I
don’t think that the Periods of the orbits are used in a simulation. Also,
Velocity, Angular Momentum, and Total Energy (potential and kinetic) must be
included in the code. And there needs to be
while
and
for
loops
involved to make it animated.
So, what I need is a simulation of
a Binary System with the Secondary and Primary Stars being a Red Dwarf and a
Yellow Dwarf (like our Sun), respectively. Like in Episode 2. The Binary System
has two planets that are of significance: one is an S-Type (Orbits one of the
Stars) that orbits the Red Dwarf. Like in Episode 1 – where the S-Type planet
replaces the Earth, and the Red Dwarf replaces the Sun. The other is a P-Type
(Circumbinary – Orbits the entire Binary
System) Orbiting the Center Of Mass of the
Star System. Like in Episode 1 – where the P-Type planet replaces the Earth,
and the Center Of Mass replaces the Sun.
